More than 11,000 customers are without power after strong storms slammed the region overnight and early Thursday, June 18.
The Florence area in Boone County, the area near Westwood in Hamilton County and Clermont County, west of Batavia, appear to have the most outages, according to Duke Energy’s outage map.
Severe weather slammed the region as part of a large weather system that spawned tornadoes across multiple states. Tornado warnings were issued for local counties overnight. The National Weather Service in Wilmington reported radar confirmed tornadoes in the Florence, Erlanger, Burlington area in Northern Kentucky after midnight and one in the Piketon, Beaver, Stockdale area in Ohio about 4:15 a.m.
A tornado watch remains in effect for the region. Tornado warnings continue to be issued north of the area and one was issued for Dry Ridge and Falmouth until 4:45 a.m.
A flash flood warning is in effect for Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky early Thursday and flooding has led to lane closures on some roadways.
