With the New York Knicks officially being crowned champions of the 2025-26 NBA season after taking down the San Antonio Spurs in five games in the NBA Finals, the offseason is officially underway for all 30 teams in the association. With the offseason here, all eyes point to the upcoming 2025-27 campaign. But before we say goodbye to the 2025-26 season, and look ahead to free agency and the draft, ESPN released a set of post-NBA Finals power rankings.
In the latest edition of power rankings from ESPN, looking ahead to next season, the Golden State Warriors landed in the middle of the pack, right at No. 16 overall. The newly minted champion Knicks ranked at No. 3 with the Spurs coming in a No. 2 and the Oklahoma City Thunder taking the top spot at No. 1 overall in ESPN’s power rankings.

The Warriors are coming off a season-ending loss to the Phoenix Suns in the second leg of the Western Conference play-in tournament. At the All-Star break, the Warriors held a 29-26 record and sat at No. 8 in the Western Conference. However, injuries to Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler derailed the second half of the season for Golden State. The Warriors finished the regular-season on an 8-19 run before the play-in tournament.
The Warriors will now enter the offseason with several question marks heading into next season. While Steve Kerr is set to return as head coach, the Warriors will likely enter next season with both Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody recovering from season-ending injuries. Depending on how they handle the draft and free agency will likely play a large role in where they land on the next set of power rankings.
