According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a semi-truck carrying lithium batteries caught fire on June 6 and a portion of I-75 northbound in Collier County was closed for approximately eight hours.
Limited details were provided as the FHP continues its investigation.
WHERE DID THIS HAPPEN?: At Exit 49 and Mile Marker 58 on I-75 in Collier County
WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?: At approximately 3 a.m. on June 6.
Because of the truck fire, traffic heading northbound on I-75 diverted at Exit 49.
Southbound I-75 lanes were not impacted by the fire.
Just before 11 a.m. on June 6 the FHP reported the northbound lanes had reopened.
