One of the top players in the state of North Carolina will make his college decision on June 19. It’s 2027 three-star wide receiver Majay Thompson out of Shelby.
He has narrowed his recruitment down to four schools. Thompson will pick between the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Florida State Seminoles, per Riley Alberts of 247Sports.
Thompson is the nation’s No. 612 overall prospect and the No. 71 wide receiver according to the 247Sports composite rankings. In the state of North Carolina, he’s the No. 20 recruit.
On May 15, Thompson took an official visit to Georgia. Two weeks later, on May 29, he took an official visit to Wake Forest. He’s currently taking an official visit to Alabama, and FSU will get his final official visit on June 12.
Florida State didn’t have Thompson on campus until April 9, and he left with a scholarship offer from the Seminoles. The fact that they’re getting his final visit will give them a good chance to make a strong final push before he commits.
FSU is getting some help from a member of its 2027 class in landing Thompson. Three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty, who committed last month, took to Instagram to recruit Thompson to the Seminoles. He’s been adamant about helping Florida State with recruiting.
Thompson had a productive junior campaign at Crest High School. He registered 53 receptions for 865 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also added a punt return touchdown on special teams.
After taking six wide receivers in the 2026 recruiting cycle, FSU isn’t expected to take a big haul of receivers in their 2027 class. They’re projected to land four-star Sean Green and currently lead for four-star Cam Wade. Thompson would be a nice addition as well if the Seminoles can snag him.
