A Maybrook man is facing kidnapping and other charges after he allegedly restrained a woman from leaving a residence.
State police said an investigation began on June 4 after they received a report of a domestic incident on Prospect Avenue in the Village of Maybrook.
State police said the investigation revealed that Jerry Carrasquillo, 46, of Maybrook, allegedly unlawfully restrained and held a 47-year-old woman against her will inside a residence.
State troopers who responded to the residence safely removed the woman and took Carrasquillo into custody without incident.
Carrasquillo was charged with one count of second-degree kidnapping, three counts of first-degree criminal contempt and two counts of aggravated criminal contempt, all felonies; and one count of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in the Town of Newburgh Court and sent to the Orange County jail, where he was being held in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, a $50,000 partially secured bond or a $200,000 secured bond on the kidnapping charge; and $25,000 cash bail, a $25,000 partially secured bond or a $100,000 secured bond on the assault charge.
He is scheduled to return to court on June 9.
Carrasquillo was represented by the Legal Aid Society of Orange County. A lawyer with the society could not immediately be reached for comment.
