New York Giants legend Phil Simms urges Jaxson Dart to 'calm it down'

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart hasn’t proved anything yet in the NFL, but you wouldn’t know that by following his social calendar.

The second-year budding star is all over the scene this offseason, and as a sign of the times, it’s all getting captured on social media.

Dart has been seen at the Kentucky Derby, the NBA Playoffs, and even introduced the President at a recent political rally in Rockland County. He’s not your typical Giants quarterback, such as Eli Manning or Phil Simms. He’s acting more like Joe Namath.

Simms, speaking to Kay Adams on her Up & Adams show this week, thinks Dart should curtail some of his extracurricular activities while the team is still in training.

“I would not want him to go [to San Antonio],” Simms said about the signal-caller’s trip to San Antonio, via the New York Post. “I just think Jaxson Dart, what he has gone through with the president and all that. Just you know, calm it down. If you are out there too much, in my opinion, when anything goes wrong at all, that’s what they’re going to jump on.”

“If I had gotten in that and went down there in a private plane to watch the Knicks play, oh my gosh. I would have brought to the principal’s office the next day, and the question would be ‘what the hell are you doing.’”

But Dart has thus far been able to manage keeping his feet in multiple worlds. He has had no issue performance-wise during the team’s recent string of OTAs. The Giants could have a megastar in the works right under their own roof.

“Every day that went on, I went ‘oh wow, I underestimated his talents’ in both things; throwing the football and the size in the running ability,” Simms said. “So Jaxson Dart can be a superstar; there is no doubt about it. He has superstar qualities and talent.”

But until that time comes, Simms thinks Dart should limit all of these public appearances.
