It’s National Donut Day, and while grabbing a sweet treat from a national chain may be tempting, it’s also a great opportunity to support local donut shops and small business owners.
Whether you’re craving a gourmet doughnut with unique toppings or a simply glazed classic, El Paso has no shortage of local shops to satisfy your sweet tooth.
El Pasoans have weighed in on their favorite spots on Google reviews, and here are some of the highest rated doughnut spots in the Sun City and what locals — and some visitors — have to say about them.
The Glazy Donut Company
The Glazy Donut Co. near the University of Texas at El Paso, offers giant doughnuts in a variety of rotating flavors, from rich stuffed Cookies & Creme to the Andes Mint Donut, a minty twist on a chocolate classic.
Reviews mention the perfect texture of each doughnut.
“The donuts were so good. They are fluffy and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Each donut taste so different from the other,” one review said.
“Huge, fluffy, and tasty donuts at a reasonable price! Great assortment of flavors to choose from. Very friendly and helpful service. I’m so excited to come back and try more,” another person wrote on Google.
Donuts N Boba of Central El Paso
The local spot off of North Piedras Street offers fresh daily sweet treats starting at 5 a.m., which is a big plus for customers. You can even call ahead if you’re looking to grab a large order before work.
“Finally, a place that we can actually go early before 6 o’clock. And the product is beautiful, great taste,” one Google review said.
“Best donuts I’ve EVER had!! They were so soft and moist. The place is very clean, super friendly staff, drinks were also amazing! Cannot recommend enough,” another review stated.

Weirdoughs Bakery & Café
Several reviews describe the tasty treats at Weirdoughs in one word: Delicious.
“Delicious airy fluffy doughnuts. The chocolate glazed Abuelita tastes like hot cocoa. Apple fritter actually has apple bits with cinnamon so good. Cranberry oatmeal cookie is scrumptious. They have savory as well. Shop your local bakeries. Skip the stale and old oil doughnuts,” one Google review said.
“The donuts are so delicious! They are kinda heavy though, so you end up feeling full after. The icing usually gives just the right amount of sweetness. They have seasonal flavors throughout the year,” another person wrote.
Amazing Donuts Hot & Fresh Kolaches (Doniphan)
The Upper Valley spot has a large selection of doughnuts, which are better than some national chains, according to reviews. There’s also a variety of options for breakfast, if you want to grab a kolache or croissant with your sweet treat.
“To be genuinely honest, everything was perfect, literally everything. The coffee, delicious, and of course the donuts. I think I might as well keep going here instead of Krispy Kreme or Dunkin’ Donuts. Because the deal is big here,” one review said.
“The donuts are super soft, fresh, and delicious, you can really taste the care that goes into making them. The owner (or the person who’s always there) is incredibly kind and welcoming every single time. Honestly, these donuts are even better than Krispy Kreme! This place has such a cozy, happy vibe definitely my favorite donut spot,” another Google review said.

Better Sweet
The spot inside Cielo Vista Mall offers mochi doughnuts in classic flavors, as well as churro, tiramisu and more for just under $3.
What is a mochi doughnut, you ask?
Mochi donuts are shaped like a ring made of connected dough balls, which allows for easier sharing. The doughnuts are light and crispy on the outside, but soft, moist, and gummy on the inside.
“Love donuts but not the calories? Then checkout this Japanese rice-based donut shop that makes their mochi donuts daily,” one Google review said.
“Omg! The texture is awesome and they are delicious!!! Very unique tasty, delectable treats and the price for each were only 3 dollars,” another fan wrote.

Hurts Donut Company
Hurts Donut Co., owned by two retired educators, has become a hit on El Paso’s East Side, known for its colorful interior and offering the sweet treats 24 hours a day.
“Hurts Donut is a total gamechanger for anyone bored with basic glazed rings. Their limitless variety turns a simple pastry run into an experience; with wild toppings and flavor combos you won’t find anywhere else,” one Google review said.
“It’s an open and colorful place to enjoy some tasty donuts, ice creams, shakes and MORE. The walls are filled with beautiful murals. My favorite part is that you can feel like a kid again swinging on their swing seating area,” another person wrote on Google.
