Jets will avoid Micah Parsons on 2026 schedule after latest update

The New York Jets revealed their complete 2026 schedule earlier this offseason and attention immediately shifted to some of the tougher matchups and superstar players the team will encounter this season.

New York will open in Week 1 against defender Jeffery Simmons and the familiar faces of former Jets Robert Saleh, John Franklin-Myers, and Jermaine Johnson II, now on the Tennessee Titans.

One of the toughest matchups on the Jets’ schedule comes the following week, in their home opener versus the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. Though they missed the postseason last year, the Packers are considered perennial contenders in the league. They expect to reach the playoffs in 2026.

The Jets have already caught a break in that Packers matchup even though it doesn’t occur for roughly three months. Packers superstar EDGE Micah Parsons recently revealed that he has four months remaining in his rehab from last year’s season-ending ACL injury. That means Parsons is slated to miss the Week 2 contest versus the Jets.

Jets starting offensive tackles Armand Membou and Olu Fashanu won’t mind that, as Parsons has developed into one of the most consistent and fearful pass rushers in the NFL. The Jets struggled in pass protection last season, tied for the second-most sacks allowed with 60. Avoiding Parsons on the early portion of their schedule qualifies as a massive morale victory.
