World of Outlaws at Plymouth and Angell Park in Wisconsin | What to know

With Kyle Larson’s High Limit Racing series making a smaller dip into Wisconsin than last year and the closure of Beaver Dam Raceway, the calendar for national level sprint car races in the state has a different look in 2026.

Holdovers, though, include a couple of stops within about an hour’s drive of Milwaukee on the World of Outlaws’ first Wisconsin swing, the Plymouth Dirt Track on the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds and Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie.

Who are World of Outlaws drivers to watch at Plymouth and Angell Park?

Entering the week, with a race in Hartford, Michigan, set for June 5, two-time defending champion David Gravel (five wins) held a commanding lead over Carson Macedo (three) in the standings with victory leader Michael “Buddy” Kofoid (six) in third. No other series regular had more than one win.

The Plymouth Dirt Track and Angell Park Speedway, both one-third-mile tracks, are hosting the World of Outlaws for the second straight year after a hiatus.

Rico Abreu, who races in High Limit, crossed over to win at Plymouth in 2025 in the Outlaws’ first race there since 2005 and third overall. Abreu won’t defend; he’ll be in North Dakota. Kofoid challenged but finished second.

Before Sheldon Haudenschild’s win at Angell Park in 2025, the Outlaws raced there once, when Donny Schatz won in 2016.  Emerson Axsom gave Haudenschild all he could handle. Gravel led qualifying, won his heat and finished third in the main.

Bill Balog, the Alaskan who settled in Wisconsin, sat 11th in points with just two top-five finishes after a rookie season in which he won three times and finished seventh. Watch for a handful of other drivers from the area who frequently try to defend their home turf against the travelers.
