Teenage boy shot in leg in Village of Liberty

A teenage boy was shot in the leg the night of May 30, Village of Liberty police reported.

According to police, the shooting took place on Edgar Street at approximately 10:15 p.m. May 30.

Police said the 17-year-old suffered a single gunshot wound to the lower leg.

He was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where he was most recently reported to be in stable condition.

The Village of Liberty Police Department is continuing to investigate the shooting, assisted by state police and Sullivan County’s sheriff’s and district attorney’s offices.

There is no threat to the general public at this time, police said.
