Myles Garrett hasn’t exactly terrorized the Jacksonville Jaguars as he has numerous other NFL teams during his nine NFL seasons.
But unless the Super Bowl matchup is the Jaguars vs. the Los Angeles Rams on Feb. 14, 2027 (at SoFi Stadium, the Rams’ home field in Inglewood, Calif, by the way), the two-time NFL Defensive Most Valuable Player and five-time All-Pro selection won’t get another chance to face the Jags during the 2026 season, thanks to Garrett’s trade from the Cleveland Browns to the Rams announced on June 1.
News of the blockbuster trade, in which the Rams get Garrett for former Florida State star Jared Verse, plus handing the Browns their No. 1 draft pick in 2027, their No. 2 in 2028 and their No. 3 in 2029, broke on June 1. Garrett, entering his 10th NFL season, has 125.5 career sacks, tied with Dwight Freeney for 20th on the all-time NFL list and third among active players.
The Jaguars open their 2026 season on Sept. 13 at EverBank Stadium against the Browns, so they won’t be facing Garrett for a fourth time in his career. Instead, the San Francisco 49ers will get that opportunity, playing at Los Angeles on Sept. 10 in a Thursday night game.
Garrett, Browns had last laugh in 2024
Since being drafted out of Texas A&M in 2017, Garrett has only one sack against the Jaguars, coming in 2024 when he also had a forced fumble and two other tackles in an 18-13 Browns victory.
It was a devastating early-season blow to the Jaguars and while they bottled up Garrett for the most part, other Browns players broke free and they logged four sacks and seven quarterback hits on Trevor Lawrence.
Garrett made it a point after the game to poke fun at the Jaguars for a publicity stunt involving the title sponsor of the stadium, when the structure was renamed “TrvrBank Stadium” for one week.
Garrett said it “added a little fuel to the fire” in Cleveland’s third victory in a row over the Jags.

Garrett has eight tackles, two for losses, six quarterback hits, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in games the Jags in 2024, 2023 and 2017. He was injured and didn’t play in a 2020 game.
He had three tackles, two quarterback hits and a fumble recovery in Cleveland’s 19-7 loss to the Jaguars in 2017. Garrett didn’t have a sack in 2023 but had three quarterback hits in a 31-27 victory for the Browns.
What about Jared Verse?
Verse now becomes Cleveland’s top pass rusher. He’s faced the Jaguars in one game, with one sack and two quarterback hits in the Rams’ 35-7 victory over the Jaguars last year in London.
