Looking for a chance to serve your community while making your mark on the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations right here in West Texas?
Organizers with Lubbock’s 4th on Broadway and Civic Lubbock Inc. are urging area residents and organizations to sign up soon to volunteer for a variety of roles to help with this year’s festivities, said event director Katie Sandifer.
The celebration, now in its 36th year, is set for Saturday, July 4, with a parade along Broadway in downtown Lubbock and a variety of activities, live music, food, fireworks and more at the Panhandle South Plains Fairgrounds.
Ahead of the event, 4th on Broadway is looking for volunteers and groups of all skill sets to help with a variety of roles at various times throughout the day.
Further, Civic Lubbock Inc. can make what Sandifer called a sizable donation to any groups that are able to assist running parking lots during the event. At least 20 volunteers are needed at various times from 2:30 to 11:30 p.m. that Saturday, July 4.
“All needed supplies, food and water will be provided,” Sandifer said.
The deadline to sign up is June 12.
Those wanting to volunteer can apply online through a secure form available through Civic Lubbock Inc.’s website.
Roles listed on the volunteer sheet include setup, teardown, cleanup, parade assistance, running ice, working volunteer booths and information booths, among others.
Those with questions can email Ksandifer@mylubbock.us or call the organization at (806) 775-2243.
