Wichita Falls rubber duck race raises funds for local nonprofits

Nearly 30 nonprofits participated in the Wetter’n Hell Rubber Duck Race at Castaway Cove waterpark on Saturday, according to a media release from Southwest Rotary Club President Jean Hall.

Money raised from the event goes to the Rotary Community Grant Fund and participating organizations, according to the release.

The release said the $2,500 grand prize, split between the winning nonprofit and the individual who adopted the duck, was awarded to Jon Bullock, whose duck supported the Rotary Community Grant Fund. Bullock immediately chose to donate his portion of the winnings back to the fund.

“I am so happy and proud to support the Southwest Wichita Falls Rotary Club as they make a positive difference in people’s lives! They are true People of Action,” Bullock said in the release

Second place went to Tonya Splees, supporting Wichita County 4-H, and third place was awarded to Martha Hagan, supporting Trinity and Wesley United Methodist Church summer youth programs.

Rotary Club President Jean Hall expressed deep gratitude for the community’s enthusiasm and generosity.

“Today’s race was fun and a celebration of the organizations working every day to build a stronger Wichita Falls. We’re honored to support them,” Hall said in the release.
