PORTLAND — The Indiana Fever fell apart in Portland on Saturday evening, falling to the Fire 100-84 to finish their road trip at 0-2.
The Fever (4-4) were plagued by Portland runs in the first and third quarters — the Fire had a 14-point lead after the first quarter, then a 25-point lead after the third.
Aliyah Boston led the team with 18 points, but she limped off the court in the fourth quarter and did not return, although she stayed on the bench after getting treatment. Kelsey Mitchell had 17 points, and Sophie Cunningham had 13 off the bench.
Caitlin Clark, who played limited minutes because of foul trouble, had six points on 1-of-7 shooting and six assists. Megan Gustafson had 22 points, making all eight shots, to lead the Fire (6-4).

What the Indiana Fever’s loss vs Portland Fire means
This was just a dismal game overall for the Fever, especially considering the Fire were playing on the second night of a back-to-back. The rotations from the coaching staff were questionable, especially in the first quarter, and the Fever couldn’t manage to even slightly dig themselves out of the deep hole they got in during the first quarter.
Indiana will have a lot of things to fix with a four-day break before the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Dream come to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday.
