A fatal traffic accident on Interstate 4 in Lake Helen has shut down the outside westbound lane of the highway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to FHP’s Lt. Tara Crescenzi, the single-vehicle crash occurred around 1:49 p.m. west of Orange Camp Road.
Preliminary evidence revealed that a 2021 Kia Soul traveling west on I-4 near Mile Marker 114 lost control and ran off the road, striking a pole, Crescenzi said in a press release.
The identity of the driver, who died at the scene, is pending confirmation, according to FHP.
The cause of the accident is unknown and the crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
