As the Cleveland Browns get deeper into their quarterback battle between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, we may get that answer sooner rather than later.
Head coach Todd Monken has said he wants to know which quarterback to give the majority of first-team reps to by the end of mandatory minicamp. Well, mandatory minicamp is next week. And as the Browns get set for this event, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler has given a glimpse into who he has heard has the upper hand.
Here is what Fowler had to say:
“Deshaun Watson, my sense is he has the leg up on that quarterback competition right now, but the Browns have not made any sort of firm determination yet.”
So, it sounds like the battle is not over quite yet. However, more and more insiders continue to rally around the idea that Watson is the Browns’ guy at this point in the process. It’s perhaps an idea that Browns fans may want to get used to, and potentially fast.
