There will be a change for the Indianapolis Colts and the rest of the NFL when it comes to the roster cutdown period in late August.
The NFL reportedly informed teams this week that the roster cutdown deadline to the final 53 will be earlier this year, taking place on Sunday, Aug. 30th at 6:00 PM ET.
Typically, roster cutdown day is the following Tuesday.
This also means that the corresponding waiver claims will be earlier as well. That deadline is now 1:00 PM ET on Monday, Aug. 31.
For the Colts and the rest of the NFL, this means that there will be less time to make those final roster decisions. On the flip side, if a player is claimed on waivers, there will be an additional few days for that player to get acclimated to the new playbook prior to Week 1 arriving.

The 2026 NFL season kicks off on Sept. 9.
