At times throughout his career with the Warriors, Trayce Jackson-Davis looked like he had the potential to be a useful rotation player. The No. 57 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft had a solid rookie campaign two seasons ago, averaging 7.9 points, five rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks in 16.6 minutes per game. Unfortunately during his sophomore campaign, most of Jackson-Davis’ numbers slightly increased, decreased or stayed the same apart from his blocks per game, which plummeted despite making a career-high 37 starts.
Jackson-Davis played 36 more games for Golden State last season with his minutes and numbers declining even further. During this time, the undersized center averaged 4.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists. When the February trade deadline came along, the Warriors decided to ship Jackson-Davis to Toronto for a second-round draft pick. Considering the various frontcourt injuries that followed, it may have been better to keep Jackson-Davis based on his past potential, especially considering his contract included a cost-effective team option for next year. Either way, Jackson-Davis’ tenure with the Warriors is over despite a promising beginning.
