The New York Jets have begin their 2026 NFL journey this week at One Jets Drive.
Albeit… only for spring practices. New York’s Aaron Glenn and his coaching staff are holding the team’s first round of OTAs in 2026.
Workouts are voluntary, but many vets made their way to the practices. Plenty of new faces were there too, including 2026 NFL Draft picks and new quarterback Geno Smith.
During the upcoming few days, here are Jets Wire’s three things to watch for as spring practices unfold for the Jets:
Running back room
Breece Hall and the Jets won’t be doing much heavy football work at this point of the offseason. With the workouts being voluntary, will Hall attend his team’s first practices since signing his extension?
More importantly, how does the depth chart appear to shake out behind Hall? There is speculation this offseason that the Jets could trade a running back at some point. Candidates behind Hall include Braelon Allen, Isaiah Davis and Kene Nwangwu.
Top rookies
The Jets will welcome their 2026 NFL Draft class to the practice field for the first time. Naturally, the eyes will be all over the team’s three Round 1 picks this week: Edge David Bailey, tight end Kenyon Sidiq and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
Can those three settle into the NFL quickly?
Geno’s return
Back in the fold in New York once again is Smith. The QB returned to the Jets this offseason… and while first-round rookies are exciting, nothing will overshadow a starting quarterback.
How does Geno’s return look at the start of it?
