U.S. News & World Report published its “2026-2027 Best Places to Live rankings” earlier this week, evaluating 250 cities across the country.
More than 20 Florida cities appear on the list; however, many fan-favorite cities and towns did not make the cut, including Miami, Orlando, St. Petersburg and Key West, just to name a few.
But two towns in our readership area and other Central Florida municipalities made the list.
Which Lake and Sumter towns made the list?
Of the 250 cities on the list, 22 were from Florida. See the cities and where they ranked in the U.S.:
The Villages (Ranked No. 186)
Often called “Florida’s Friendliest Hometown,” this massive master-planned community is a magnet for active adults.
Clermont (Ranked No. 222)
Known as the “Choice of Champions,” Clermont offers a uniquely scenic and active lifestyle that draws families and young professionals.
