The story of Beachler’s Tire and Automotive Center began with one man’s vision and has grown to become a third-generation Peoria institution.
In 1951, Bob Beachler opened Beachler’s Standard, a vehicle care and repair shop on the corner of North and McClure streets in Peoria. A few months later, he moved the business to its permanent home at the corner of University Street and War Memorial Drive.
Beachler’s Tire and Automotive Center celebrated its 75th anniversary as a family business this month with fanfare that suited the occasion. Owner Brett Beachler said the event featured a 24-foot Michelin Man, raffles for items donated by local restaurants and businesses, food trucks and a classic car show.
“We had perfect weather for the event,” he said. “I’m thankful to my grandpa Bob and dad (Terry) for ushering in the vision of Beachler’s Tire and Automotive. I am honored and privileged to carry on the great legacy of taking care of clients and my employees.”
