San Angelo Independent School District announced the hiring of former Major League Baseball pitcher Harrison Musgrave as the new baseball coach at San Angelo Central on Monday, May 18.
Drafted in 2014, Musgrave was part of the Colorado Rockies organization until March 2020. Before that, he played at West Virginia University, where he was named the 2013 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and earned second-team All-American honors. He appeared in 45 games as a pitcher for the Rockies in his career.
Musgrave was most recently an assistant baseball coach and special education teacher at Lubbock-Cooper Liberty High School, where he worked with the varsity pitching staff and led the freshman baseball team.
Musgrave has also coached at the middle and high school levels in West Virginia and has experience in player development and pitching instruction.
“Coach Musgrave will be a great addition to the Central Bobcat baseball program,” Athletic Director Rodney Chant said. “His playing experience at the collegiate and professional level, as well as his coaching experience in West Virginia and Texas, stood out among the applicants. We look forward to watching Coach Musgrave at work in the near future.”
