5 Monroe County roads will be closed for paving, culvert replacements

Three Monroe County roads will be closed for paving projects and another road will be closed for culvert replacements during the week of May 18-22.

Also, the Monroe County Highway Department is alerting residents of road closings that will begin the end of May through June on five county roads.

Roads closed

Knightridge Road between Inverness Woods and Gross roads will be closed 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, May 18, through Thursday, May 21. The work will begin at 3223 Knightridge Road and move south for culvert replacements.

Snow Road from Ray Moore Road to Rockeast Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19, for paving.

Crum Road from Mount Zion Road to Breeden Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, for paving.

Graves Road from Burch Road to Breeden Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday May 21, for paving.

Bennett Lane from the Lawrence County line to Popcorn Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 26, for paving.

Advance notice of road closings

Strain Ridge Road from Stone Ridge Road to Pointe Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. May 27 and 28 for paving.

Roads in the Bailey Addition, including Roy Bailey Drive, Jeremy Drive, Nicole Drive and Viola Drive, will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. May 29 for paving. The paving will begin in the back of the addition and end at That Road.

Woodyard Road from Curry Pike to Griffith Court will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. June 4 for paving.

Prather Road from Mount Pleasant Road to Bottom Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. June 5 for paving.

Rockport Road between Cockrell Road and Bolin Lane will be closed June 1 through Oct. 14 for bridge removal and replacement. A detour will be in place beginning at West Tramway Road, turning north on South Victor Pike and reconnecting via West That Road.

Lane restrictions with traffic control

Rockport Road between Cockrell Road and Bolin Lane continue 7 a.m.-6 p.m. daily through June 1.

Cherry Lane between Fairfax Road and Dutcherman Drive will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, May 18.

Curry Pike at the intersection with Vernal Pike will have lane restrictions with traffic control 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19.

Rockport Road between Lodge and Koontz roads will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, May 18, through Wednesday, May 20.

Curry Pike between West Third Street and Beasley Drive will have lane restrictions with traffic control 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, May 18, through June 18. Full road closures are not expected but there will be temporary lane closures under flagging conditions.

Vernal Pike at the intersection of Curry Pike will have lane restrictions with traffic control 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19.

Koontz Road between Rockport and Harmony roads will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, and Thursday, May 21.

Shaw Road between Monroe Medical Park Boulevard and Watson Drive will be lane restrictions with traffic control 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 19.

San Juan Drive between Rogers Street and end of county maintenance will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, May 20.

Bottom Road between Liberty Hollow and Mount Pleasant roads will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, May 21.

Monroe County reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All closings are weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
