Florida State softball kept its postseason alive Saturday with a pair of decisive wins, routing Jacksonville State 11-0 before avenging an earlier upset with a 11-3 victory over Stetson in the NCAA Tournament’s Tallahassee Regional.
Facing elimination, the Seminoles (2-0 on the day) responded with an explosive offensive showing, combining for 29 hits and six home runs across both games to advance to Sunday’s regional final against UCF at the Seminole Softball Complex. Florida State must beat the Knights twice in a doubleheader to reach a super regional.
FSU set the tone early against Jacksonville State, ending the game via run rule behind three home runs from Kennedy Harp, Hayley Griggs and Jaysoni Beachum. The Seminoles piled up 14 hits and never allowed the Gamecocks to threaten.
The offensive surge carried over into the rematch with Stetson. Florida State scored seven runs in the first two innings, highlighted by Beachum’s grand slam in the second. Ashtyn Danley followed with a solo homer to push the lead to seven and put the Seminoles firmly in control.
Danley added two more home runs to seal the victory.
In the circle, Jazzy Francik earned the win against Jacksonville State, striking out four over three innings while allowing three hits and one walk. Danley was winning pitcher after replacing freshman Bella Dimitrijevic after three innings.
With their season hanging in the balance, the Seminoles delivered their most complete performance of the regional — and now stand one day away from extending their postseason run.
