KIMBERLY – The Papermakers scored 12 runs in the fourth inning in their Fox Valley Association win over the Terrors.
Kimberly had five hits but Appleton West committed seven errors and walked six batters.
Beckett Hermus had two hits, including a home run, and six RBIs for Kimberly. Lex Knaebe drove in two runs.
Braeden Hermes pitched a five-inning complete game for the win. He allowed four hits and two walks while striking out eight.
Kellin Gilbert took the loss for Appleton West.
Hortonville 4, Appleton North 2
HORTONVILLE – The Polar Bears’ Elijah Yeager and Thomas Berrens combined to limit the Lightning to three hits in getting the Fox Valley Association win.
Yeager pitched the first 4⅓ innings for Hortonville, allowing one unearned run on one hit and six walks. Berrens pitched 2⅔ innings, giving up one run on two hits.
Kolten Jens had two doubles for Hortonville.
Owen Reuland pitched 3⅔ innings for Appleton North and was charged with the loss. Matthew Hietpas allowed one run on three hits in 2⅓ innings of relief.
Iola-Scandinavia 7, St. Mary Catholic 6
IOLA – The Thunderbirds built a 7-4 lead and then withstood a seventh-inning two-run rally to defeat the Zephyrs.
Luke Fairweather, Caleb Vogel, Jacob Ernsting and Andew Ernsting each had two hits for St. Mary Catholic. Caleb Springborn drove in two runs.
Carter Nicholson took the loss for St. Mary Catholic, pitching the final two innings and allowing three runs.
Brillion 15, Reedsville 5
BRILLION – The Lions scored their runs on 15 hits, scoring four runs in the second inning, six in the fourth and three in the fifth in the win over the Panthers.
Joe Shimek had three hits for Brillion, while Hayden Cousin, Kelvin Gilbertson, Chase Braun, Grady Paulow, McCormick Zutz and Aiden Reinke each had two hits.
Gilbertson drove in four runs. Reinke had three RBIs wile Paulow had two.
Gilbertson was the beneficiary of the runs. He pitched five innings and allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits. He struck out six and was credited with the win.
Chilton 10, Oconto 6
OCONTO – The Tigers scored four runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Blue Devils in a nonconference matchup.
Kale Wagner had three hits, including a double, and drove in four runs for Chilton. Lucas Groeschel had two hits and Ryan Schmitz scored three runs.
Ethan Schneider pitched the final three innings for Chilton, allowing no runs on two hits and a walk while striking out three. He was credited with the win.
Kohler 9, Hilbert 0
KOHLER – The Blue Bombers led 3-0 after two innings and then broke open the game with a four-run third inning in the win over the Wolves.
Lucas Kading had two hits for Kohler and Collin Thorne drove in three runs.
Hilbert was able to get just four singles against winning pitcher Aiden Oldenhoff and Kaden Harrington.
Eli Eichmeier took the loss for Hilbert.
Ripon 18, Winneconne 4
WINNECONNE – The Tigers scored five runs in the fourth inning and nine in the sixth in their win over the Wolves.
Ethan Duel drove in two runs for Winneconne. Noah Bouras had a double.
Logan Binder took the loss for Winneconne.
SOFTBALL
Hortonville 1, Appleton North 0
HORTONVILLE – Ivy Schroeder drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Polar Bears past the Lightning in a battle for first place in the Fox Valley Association.
Also powering the Hortonville attack were Kyah Gass, who was 2-for-3 with a double; Eileen Gassner with two hits, including a double; and Samantha D’Addario with a double.
Kierra Wunderlich earned the win, pitching eight innings and allowing four hits while striking out seven.
Claire Therkildsen led Appleton North with two hits.
Charlotte Radtke took the loss, pitching 7⅔ innings, allowing seven hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out 15.
Kimberly 10, Appleton West 0
KIMBERLY – The Papermakers broke open the game early, scoring five runs in the second inning and then tacking on three more in the third in their win over the Terrors.
Sophie Hermus led Kimberly with three hits. Paige Schreck and Bella Ellestad both had two hits. Schreck had a double and Hermus had a triple. Payton Schreiber drove in three runs, while Hermus and Schreck both drove in two runs.
Kendra Ruys pitched the first three innings and got the win for Kimberly. She walked three and struck out four while not allowing any hits.
Hattie Moscinski took the loss for Appleton West.
Wrightstown 19, Waupaca 9
WAUPACA – The Comets dominated the early innings, but the Tigers roared back late to earn the North Eastern Conference win.
Waupaca led 3-0 after one inning and 7-1 after two. Wrightstown closed to within 8-4 after three, but then struck for eight in the sixth and seven in the seventh. The Comets scored their final run in the sixth.
Molly Ruebl led the Tigers’ offense, going 3-for-5 with a homer. Also leading Wrightstown were Layla Beyer, who was 2-for-4 with a double, homer and five RBIs; Elaina Verbeten and Marissa Jeanquart, both with two hits; and Bryn Amundson with a homer and three RBIs.
Denmark 6, Freedom 4
DENMARK – Rebekah Dittmer was 2-for-4 with a double, while Claire Warpinski was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs as the Vikings held off the Irish for the North Eastern Conference victory.
Shaelyn Kraschnewski was 2-for-4 with two doubles for Denmark.
Kourtney Moeller scored twice, while Kingsley Klug had one RBI for Freedom.
The Vikings led 3-0 after one, 4-0 after five and 6-1 after six. The Irish closed out the scoring with three runs in the seventh.
Clintonville 20, Menominee Nation 6
KESHENA – The Truckers scored in all five innings en route to the nonconference win.
Morgan Retzlaff led the Clintonville offense, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, while Abby Tate was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Maddy LaViolette was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Truckers.
Claire Papendorf earned the win in the circle, pitching five innings and allowing eight hits, six earned runs and one walk while striking out 11.
Natalie Peters was 3-for-3 with a double, home run and four RBIs for the Eagles, while Taylesia Pamonicutt was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Clintonville scored three in the first, one in the second, nine in the third, one in the fourth and six in the fifth.
Menominee Nation scored one in the first, two in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Chilton 7, Sheboygan Falls/Kohler 5
SHEBOYGAN FALLS – The Tigers held off a late charge by the Falcons to earn the Eastern Wisconsin Conference win.
Chilton led 1-0 after one inning before Sheboygan Falls/Kohler knotted the game 1-1 in the third. The Tigers answered with three runs in the fourth. The Falcons closed to within 4-2 in the fifth before both teams scored three times in the seventh.
Lauren Roehrig homered twice for Chilton. Also leading the Tigers were Mya Grenzer, Olivia Hoefner and Brenna Geiser with two hits each. Hoefner and Geiser both had doubles.
Cora Kroeplien and Abigail Kanios led Sheboygan Falls/Kohler with three hits each. Among those hits, Kroeplien doubled and homered, while Kanios had a triple.
Brillion 18, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah 6
ELKHART LAKE – The Lions used an eight-run third inning to take charge en route to the nonconference win.
Amaya Brooks, Taylor Ware and Kara Hedrich all had three hits for Brillion. Also powering the Lions were Cora Tamm, Jocelyn Tamm and Carter Miller with two. Miller and Emma Schuh both homered and drove in four runs.
Dyani Lisowe led the Resorters with three hits, including two doubles.
Brillion led 4-3 after one inning before Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah grabbed a 5-4 edge after two. The Lions answered with eight runs in the third, two in the fourth and four in the seventh. The Resorters closed out the scoring with one in the bottom of the seventh.
Laconia 23, Winneconne 8
WINNECONNE – The Spartans used two big innings to down the Wolves in a nonconference matchup.
Winneconne led 1-0 after one inning, but Laconia took a 10-1 lead after two, 11-2 edge after three before scoring 12 times in the fourth. The Wolves closed out the scoring with six in the bottom of the fourth.
Aubrey Mitchell had the hot bat for the Wolves, going 3-for-3 with two homers, one double and five RBIs.
GIRLS SOCCER
Menasha 3, Lourdes Academy 2
MENASHA – Emma Hanagen had two goals and Mariana Miller scored one to lead the Bluejays past the Knights.
Josie Fonder and Sophia Sierra each had an assist for Menasha.
Madison Mulder and Mallory Robbins had four and five saves, respectively, for Menasha.
Appleton North 1, Oshkosh North 0 (Thursday)
OSHKOSH – Madi Hacker scored the game’s only goal to lift the Lightning to the victory over the Spartans.
Aubrey Scherer had an assist for the Lightning.
