Do you have your free Volusia County beach pass? Here's how to get one

The busiest beach season will launch unofficially on Memorial Day, and Volusia County residents can sign up for free beach parking and beach driving in a few simple steps.

Volusia County launched its Park Volusia program in 2024 with no fee for beach driving for residents. Since then, thousands have signed up for permits.

The process of signing up is fast. Also, there’s no physical permit. Residents license plate numbers are used to sign up. Getting a permit gives residents access to free beach driving and free parking at 65 county-government off-beach parking lots.

For non-residents and those who haven’t registered for the permit, the daily beach driving fee is $30. The daily off-beach parking fee is $20.

Property owners and some non-resident college students can also apply for a free permit.

How do I register for a free Volusia beach pass?

Register at parkvolusia.org. You’ll need to create an account with an email address, upload the necessary documents and fill out the forms. It could take longer, but a News-Journal reporter was approved in less than 10 minutes.

Residents will get a confirmation email when their application has been approved. Also, users can register all cars in their households through their account.

If you need in-person help, make an appointment at a Park Volusia office, which are located at 2422 S. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach Shores and at 302 N. Causeway in New Smyrna Beach. For information or to make an appointment, call 386-217-0216.

How does the beach pass work?

Once registered, you license plate number is used for free access to parking and driving on the beach.

When must I renew my Park Volusia beach pass?

The Park Volusia resident permits renew automatically after the first and second year. Residents will need to re-register every three years.

Those with non-resident beach parking permits must renew them annually.
