Two of the four NBA playoff series in the conference semifinals wrapped up with sweeps over the last two days.
The other two series are all tied up at two games apiece and heading to Game 5s over the next two days.
First up on Tuesday, May 12 is the No. 2 San Antonio Spurs vs. the No. 6 Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will air on NBC and stream on Peacock.
The physical series has taken on a new dimension following the Game 4 ejection of Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.
The NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year delivered an elbow to the neck of Timberwolves’ Naz Reid in the second quarter, getting a Flagrant 2 foul and immediate ejection. The Timberwolves capitalized and hung on for a 114-109 win.
Wembanyama avoided a suspension and will be sure to come out motivated in front of his home fans at Frost Bank Center. His head coach Mitch Johnson supported Wembanyama, saying while he’s glad Reid is OK, he’s also glad his player took “matters into his own hands” to “protect himself” if officials aren’t.
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was the catalyst in the Game 4 victory, scoring 16 of his game-high 36-points in the fourth quarter.
Each team went 1-1 at their home arena through the first four games in the series. It’s now a best-of-three series with a berth in the Western Conference finals at stake.
