The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed running back Ameer Abdullah, the team announced Monday.
In addition, the team waived RB Ja’Quinden Jackson, placed undrafted free agent offensive lineman Jordan White on the reserve/retired list and re-signed OL Sal Wormley.
Abdullah, 32, is entering his 12th season in the NFL after originally being drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
In his career, Abdullah totaled 508 carries for 2,054 yards and nine touchdowns, adding 219 catches for 1,567 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air. Abdullah has played for five different clubs in his career, including the Lions (2015-18), Minnesota Vikings (2018-21), Carolina Panthers (2021), Las Vegas Raiders (2022-24) and the Indianapolis Colts (2025).
Abdullah adds another veteran to the team’s running backs room, giving the team experience as a third-down back, someone who is capable of pass blocking and catching the football. He’s also been utilized as a kick returner, averaging 25.6 yards per return in his career.
Jacksonville has now added multiple veterans to its backfield this offseason. In addition to Abdullah, the team signed Chris Rodriguez Jr. during free agency in March, while they re-signed veteran DeeJay Dallas.
Rounding out the group are backs Bhayshul Tuten, LeQuint Allen, drafted in 2025, while they signed Virginia RB J’Mari Taylor as an undrafted free agent following this year’s draft.
Jacksonville just completed the team’s three-day rookie minicamp and will begin Organized Team Activities soon.
