Lubbock Christian University celebrated its Spring 2026 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9, at the Rip Griffin Center, recognizing undergraduate and graduate students completing their degrees.
The ceremony celebrated 227 students who were graduating this spring, including 191 with bachelor’s degrees and 36 with master’s degrees, according to LCU.
The commencement address was delivered by Holly Betenbough Hope, a business and ministry leader who has spent more than two decades helping shape the people-first culture of Betenbough Companies through leadership, generosity, and spiritual mentorship. Hope co-founded Kingdom at Work, a movement equipping business leaders to advance God’s Kingdom through their influence in the marketplace, and serves as executive producer of Miracle, airing on the Angel Network.
Distinctive LCU tradition
One of LCU’s long-standing commencement traditions includes each undergraduate graduate selecting an escort to participate in the ceremony. Escorts, robed in white, walk into the ceremony with graduates, and are seated behind them during commencement. They formally hood the graduates as their degrees are conferred.
Each semester, LCU selects a graduating student to address the class, reflecting on their journey at the university and offering a charge to fellow graduates. The Spring 2026 student speaker was Ruth Blayee of Mansfield, Texas, who is graduating with a degree in Biblical Text.
