I-75 ramp closures planned for Marion County drivers

Due to milling and resurfacing, the northbound Interstate on-ramp at State Road 40 and off-ramp at U.S. 27 will be closed for milling and resurfacing, according to the Florida Department of Transportation officials in a news item.

Here’s what we know:

Drivers will not be able to access the SR 40 on-ramp from 9 p.m. May 11 to 6 a.m. May 12.

Then on May 12, the news release states the off-ramp at U.S. 27 won’t be open to traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. May 13.

FDOT officials said the work is needed and “is part of the Moving I-75 Forward project, which covers more than 30 miles between S.R. 44 in Sumter County and S.R. 326 in Marion County. Improvements include the addition of an auxiliary lane in both directions, multiple bridge replacements and interchange enhancements.”

Detours

For SR 40, officials said if you’re traveling on the roadway and want to get to I-75, you should travel east and turn onto Northwest 27th Avenue. From there, turn left onto U.S. 27, and travel to the on-ramp for I-75.

For U.S. 27, drivers heading northbound on I-75 and want to exit at U.S. 27, then get off at SR 40, which is Exit 352, go east on SR 40 and turn left onto Northwest 27th Avenue to U.S. 27.
