2027 three-star tight end Carter Blackwell has been a key target for Florida State since they hosted him for an unofficial visit last September. They made him an offer in March, and he has an official visit locked in for June 5.
This trip will come a week after visiting the Clemson Tigers on May 29, who have elevated their chances as of late. After visiting FSU, Blackwell will take official visits to see the Duke Blue Devils on June 12 and the UCF Knights on June 19.
As he gears up to embark on his visit schedule, Blackwell broke down what appeals to him about each program. His words about Florida State were glowing, to say the least.
“The brotherhood they create within their players is special. It really is. It’s not something you see in a lot of places. They’re all kind of like family. It’s like they’ve known each other their whole life. I think that’s really important, especially even in the tight end room. (Deputy head coach and tight ends) coach (Chris) Thomsen, he’s a great coach,” Blackwell said via Noles247.
Blackwell is the No. 846 overall player nationally and the No. 42 tight end per the 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-4, 224-pounder is also the No. 99 prospect in the state of Georgia.
It was a solid junior year for Blackwell at Lee County High School. He finished the season with 24 receptions for 438 yards and five touchdowns. In addition to playing tight end, Blackwell also plays wide receiver, fullback, and long snapper.
The Seminoles are looking to double-dip at tight end in the 2027 cycle. Connor Winn, a three-star recruit from Jacksonville, Florida, committed last July.
