A mother-son duo is spreading a passion for sweets into Over-the-Rhine (and just in time for Mother’s Day).
Ramy Mahmud and Yanitza Linares are slated to open their from-scratch cinnamon roll concept, “The Roll,” at 9 a.m. May 9. The new sweet-treat location will reside at 1426 Race St.
According to a press release, Mahmud will oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the bakery. Meanwhile, his mother, a professional baker with over 15 years of experience, will lead the craft of the store’s handmade treats.
The cinnamon rolls will be baked fresh daily inside the OTR storefront and will offer a variety of flavors, such as glazed sugar, cream cheese, pistachio, chocolate ganache, salted caramel and blueberry. Coffee, lemonade, Lavazza and more will be available as well.
“I love this neighborhood − the energy and the people − and there hasn’t been a bakery nearby offering this kind of elevated cinnamon roll experience,” Mahmud said in the release. “Getting to build this together with my mother makes it even more meaningful, and we’re eager to share what we’ve been working on.”
The Roll will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until they’re sold out. For more information, visit instagram.com/therollmood.
