DRESDEN – Multiple fire departments were in enroute to a Dresden house fire on the morning of May 7, when a tanker overturned and hit a tree on Dresden Adamsville Road pinning two Adamsville firefighters.
One was able to walk out, but the second needed extricated. One firefighter was transported to Genesis Hospital in Zanesville in stable condition. The other was flown by MedEvac to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in Columbus in serious condition, Muskingum County EMA Director Jeff Jadwin told the TR.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol could not be immediately reached on the victims’ identities.
Initially, the Tri-Valley Joint Fire District received a call around 8 a.m. May 7 for a house fire and entrapment on North River Road just outside Dresden, Tri-Valley captain Colby Kinsey told the Times Recorder.
The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office was first to arrive and helped safely remove the resident from the structure. They were uninjured and were not transported.
Some valuables were salvaged, but the structure will likely be deemed a total loss, Kinsey said. The fire’s cause and origin are under investigation by the Ohio Fire Marshal.
The responding fire departments included Tri-Valley Joint Fire District, Zanesville, Frazeysburg, Adamsville, Falls Township, Licking Township, Washington Township and Hanover Township in Licking County. Others that assisted included Coshocton Fire Department, Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, Muskingum County EMA, and Ohio State Highway Patrol.
