Pub Sub lovers rejoice: the Publix Super Market at Cold Spring Pointe is opening its doors next month, the Florida-based grocery chain said in a news release May 5.
Doors on the 48,387-square-foot store will open at 7 a.m. June 17 and − if the store opening near the Triple Crown neighborhood in Boone County is a sign of the brand’s popularity in Northern Kentucky − will likely draw a line of people eager for Publix staples.
“We are thrilled to continue our growth across Northern Kentucky with a new location in Cold Spring,” Jared Glover, Publix media relations manager, said in a news release. “We look forward to delivering Publix’s legendary service and being active members in this vibrant community.”
The new store, located at 5401 Alexandria Pike, is the second of five Publix supermarkets slated for opening in the area.
The Lakeland, Florida-based chain’s second store in Northern Kentucky comes as locally-headquartered Kroger jeolously looks to guard its home turf. Last month, it announced it would spend $129 million in the Greater Cincinnati and Dayton region as part of its $3.8 billion to $4 billion budget for building and expanding stores nationally.
Kroger’s local spending plans include relocating and expanding three stores into larger Marketplace formats, including its 70 Martha Layne Collins store in Cold Spring.
