During the 2026 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns and general manager Andrew Berry orchestrated multiple trades, both moving up and down. They moved down from the sixth overall pick to the ninth pick with the Kansas City Chiefs, but that wasn’t the only trade-down offer.
The Dallas Cowboys called about moving up to the ninth overall pick, but the Browns declined the offer. On ESPN’s show “The Pick Is In,” it was revealed that the Cowboys called Cleveland and offered the 12th and 20th overall picks plus a fifth rounder for the 9th and 24th overall picks.
In the clip, the Browns were afraid to move behind the New York Giants because they thought they were taking an offensive lineman, which they ended up doing, and didn’t want to miss out on getting their guy. The clip also shows the Browns’ war room talking about Spencer Fano being the best offensive tackle in the entire draft, so they stayed at nine and got their guy.
