Peoria restaurant takes first step toward serving alcohol

The Peoria Liquor Commission recommended site approval for 1301 W. Pioneer Parkway, Suite 137, on Monday, with commission chair Paul Winkler describing the location as “a great area.”

Cholas Indian Restaurant is seeking a Class B restaurant license with a sidewalk café subclass. Owner Venkateshwara Subbareddy and a friend went before the commission – which recommends whether a location should be granted or denied site approval for a specific liquor license class. The matter is now slated to go before the Peoria City Council during its May 26 meeting.

Situated in Dominion Square, the restaurant opened its doors in October 2025 with the goal of bringing “the rich and diverse flavors of India to your table.” Its online menu lists biryani, curry, dosa and more.
