Ahead of NCAA Tournament, Mount Union women's lacrosse earns OAC awards

Mount Union will face Union (N.Y.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Tournament on May 9 at 11:30 a.m. in Salisbury, Maryland. 

The Purple Raiders (12-5) are making their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance. They beat Baldwin Wallace 11-10 in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championship on May 2 to earn an automatic NCAA berth. They have won seven matches in a row.

Union (13-6) is appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. The Garnet Chargers earned one of the final three NCAA at-large bids. 

The Mount Union-Union winner will play host Salisbury in the second round at 1 p.m. May 10. The Sea Gulls are one of the nation’s two remaining undefeated teams.

Mount Union women’s lacrosse earns foir special OAC awards

Mount Union’s women’s lacrosse team earned four special awards from the OAC this season.

Senior Haylee Handrahan was chosen Offensive Player of the Year. Freshman Alexa Udovicic was named Defender of the Year. Freshman Lizzie Dorley was selected Rookie of the Year.

Mount Union’s Bethany Snider also was voted OAC Coach of the Year for the fourth time.

Handrahan leads the Purple Raiders in goals with 44, assists with 23 and points with 67. Udovicic leads the team in ground balls with 43 and causec turnovers with 21. Donley is second on the team on assists with 21.
