Xavier freshman golfer Cayse Morgan, an Elder High School graduate, won medalist honors at the 2026 Big East Championships on Monday, May 4.
Morgan was 14-under for the tournament at Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club in Hardeeville, South Carolina, to lead Xavier to its first Big East team championship since 2005.
Morgan, the three-time Greater Catholic League-South Golfer of the Year while at Elder, tied a 54-hole Big East Championship record at 202.
Xavier secured the automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Golf Championship on Monday with three players − Morgan, Kyle Smith (-5) and A.J. Wilhelm (-1) − under par. Kellen Dean was 1-over and Carson Bellish finished at 8-over.
At 843 overall, Xavier edged runner-up Marquette (847) and third-place Creighton (852).
Xavier will find out its NCAA regional on Wednesday, May 6.

Xavier golf is atop the Big East in men’s and women’s. The women’s team’s conference dominance continued with a seventh consecutive conference crown at Callawassie Island Club in Okatie, South Carolina, April 27.
As a team, Xavier was 7-over par (871) over the three-day tournament behind medalist Madison Reemsnyder, who will play in the Kroger Queen City Championship later this month.
Reemsnyder posted the second-lowest round in tournament history with a 5-under par-67 on the final day. Teammates Isabel Brozena (+2) and Darrelyn Webster (+4) finished second and third place, respectively.
On Wednesday, April 29, Xavier was picked to play in the NCAA Louisville Regional at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky May 11-13.
