A 22-year-old man from Reynoldsburg was shot in the stomach at an apartment building at 135 E. Cook Road, in Building K on May 3 at 11:33 a.m., according to Mansfield Police Chief Jason Bammann.
Bammann said the shooting appears to be self-defense.
Bammann identified the man who was shot as Marcus Wilson, who was taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Wilson was with two others in the hallway of the apartment building who came looking for a Silas Miller, Bammann said.
Officers identified the vehicle which dropped the victim off outside the hospital at 335 Glessner Ave. using Flock cameras.
The Ohio Highway Patrol stopped the vehicle in Delaware, Bammann said. Mansfield detectives interviewed the two occupants in the vehicle.
Bammann said that the victim underwent surgery and it appears the injury was non-life threatening.
“We’re still trying to determine why this occurred,” Bammann said. “No one has been charged. Silas Miller lived in the apartment complex,” Bammann said.
“It appears that Marcus Wilson (who was shot) went to that residence looking for Silas Miller and Silas Miller was acting in self-defense,” Bammann said.
