“Destin’s Week of Blessings is a week of events put on by area churches that go out together as a unified church into the city to offer prayer and bless our community,” said Michelle Terry, president of the Church of Destin.

The Week of Blessings is put on by the Church of Destin, whose slogan is, “one church, many congregations.”

And the Church of Destin is just that, the churches in the Destin area. They include churches such as Destin Methodist, Shoreline, Vision Church at Christian International, Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church, Oceans, Immanuel Anglican, Faith Assembly Christian Church and Destin Church of Christ.

What is happening and when?

May 10: Blessing of the Families: This is a day for intentional blessings made over families during Sunday services.

May 11: Day of Prayer and Fasting: Pray for your neighbors, community and leaders of our nation and world.

May 12: Community and First Responder Outreach: Blessing of local government and first responders with a treat provided by The Church of Destin.

May 13: Blessing of the Marketplace: On this day, the business community is invited to worship together and be blessed. Lunch will be proved by Big Red Truck from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Destin Methodist Church at 200 Beach Drive.

During the Blessing at the Marketplace event, there will be a “Faith at Work” panel made up of Lori Joyner from the Harvest House, Capt. Jason Fulghum of the Okaloosa Sherrif’s Department and Kim Thornell with Hot Mess Salon.

May 13: Blessing of the Youth: The youth pastors welcome middle and high school students for worship and blessings from 6 to 8 p.m. at HarborWalk Village.

May 14: 69th Annual Blessing of the Fleet: A prayer and worship service will begin at 4 p.m. on the harbor behind Brotula’s Seafood and Steamer. Boat blessing and fish fry to follow. Boats used to earn a living on the sea may register by calling 850-837-6324.

May 15: Practice Random Acts of Kindness: Share the love of Jesus by practicing random acts of kindness throughout the community. Leave big tips, lend a helping hand, give generously of your time and resources – however your heart leads.
