Atchison earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of West Florida and will fill a ninth seat on the PSC governing board. He will join Ed Fleming, Richard Holzknecht, Todd Leonard, Oscar Locklin, Audrey McDonald, Zack Smith, Dr. Troy Tippett and Gordon “Flash” Sprague.

He will fill a slot left open when Andrew Hobbs’ confirmation was pulled from full Senate confirmation by the governor’s office.

DeSantis also reappointed Locklin to the board on April 24. He will be up for Senate confirmation after his initial term ends on May 31.

Locklin was originally appointed to the board on Jan. 27 and confirmed by the Senate Appropriations Committee on Higher Education, Senate Ethics and Elections Committee and full Senate for a term that ends on May 31.

An attorney and shareholder with Locklin, Saba, Locklin and Jones P.A., Locklin has served as a volunteer with the Jay Church of Christ and is a member of the Santa Rosa Education Foundation Board of Directors.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Harding University, and his juris doctor from Florida State University.
