Nordhoff, Fillmore's Fraga-Sandoval big winners at Citrus Coast track finals

The Nordhoff High boys team and Fillmore High junior Saul Fraga-Sandoval led the way at the Citrus Coast League Track and Field Championships on Thursday, April 30, at Carpinteria High.

Thomas Eckert bettered his own meet record in winning the boys 300-meter hurdles in 41.13 seconds and defended his 110 hurdles title with a meet-record time of 15.68 to lead the Rangers, who finished first with 149 points. Joaquin Fontan set the meet record in the 400 with a time of 49.62 and Ryker Blake won pole vault title by clearing 11 feet. Nordhoff also won the 4×100 relay title with a meet-record time of 44.27.

Fraga-Sandoval was a triple champion for the Flashes. He set a meet record by winning the long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 7 inches. He repeated as the league champion in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.93 seconds. Fraga-Sandoval, who also stars on the football team, capped his day by winning the 200 in 22.54.

Isaac Rivera won the shot put (46-2) and discus (126-10) as Fillmore finished third as a team with 79 points.

Uriel Texis won his third straight 1,600 title with a time of 4:28.97 for Channel Islands, which took second with 110 points. Mathew Anthony won the 3,200 in 9:59.70 and Louis Lemos won the triple jump (40-06.5) for the Raiders.

Alexis Magana set a meet record by winning the 800 in 2:00.68 for Santa Paula, which finished fourth with 58 points.

Carpinteria was fifth with 51 points, followed by Hueneme (46) and Malibu (3) to round out the boys standings.

In the girls meet, Carpinteria won the team title with 182 points.

Camila A. Rodriguez set a meet record in winning the 800 in 2:25.23 and won the 3,200 title in 11:24.09 for Fillmore, which finished second with 105 points. Kimberly Magana broke her own meet record by winning the 100 in 12.34 and Andrianna Deleon won the discus title (104-3) for the Flashes.

Monserrath Correa won the shot put title (33-11.75) for Channel Islands, which finished third with 78 points.

Santa Paula took fourth overall with 39 points.

Hazel Williams won the high jump title (4-8) for Nordhoff, which was fifth with 31 points.

Malibu was sixth with 29 points and Hueneme was seventh with 28.
