2026 Atlantic hurricane season starts soon. See countdown clock

When is hurricane season?

When is 2026 hurricane season in Florida? When does tropical storm season begin, end?

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30 every year, with the most tropical storm activity typically between August and October. Sept. 10 is considered the peak of hurricane season, and in the past, tropical systems have formed and were named as early as April or May.

The Atlantic basin includes the northern Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.
