The GAB Spot posted two big victories in the second round of the city of Destin’s Lower Division Coed Softball Tournament at Morgan Sports Center on April 29. The GAB Spot put Fudpucker’s Beachside Bar and Grill away 20-3, and then Destin Commons 22-4.
The GAB Spot put Fudpucker’s away in four innings. At the end of two innings, The GAB Spot was up 6-3 and 12-3 at the end of three innings.
In the top of the fourth, The GAB Spot scored eight runs for a run-ruling on the game.
Kevin Jones led The GAB Spot with a triple, double, and a single for five RBIs. Jennifer Emmanuel hit two singles for two RBIs and Jesse Santos doubled and singled for two RBIs.
Joey Allen led Fudpucker’s with a double and a single for an RBI. Mya Knight and Elijah Evan each connected for a single.
In their second game, The GAB Spot again dominated.
In the first inning, The GAB Spot stepped out to a 6-2 lead over Destin Commons.
In the top of the second, The GAB Spot scored the 10-run limit for a 16-2 go ahead. The GAB Spot picked up three runs in the third and another three in the fourth.
Destin Commons scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth before the game was called.
Jennifer Emmanuel had four hits for The GAB Spot, with a triple, double and two singles for two RBIs. Davey Bazylak slapped a home run, double and a single for four RBIs, and Kevin Jones hit a homer, triple and a single for four RBIs.
Connecting for two hits each for Destin Commons were Jennifer Robbins, Corey Griffith and Collin Gray.
In other tournament action:
Legendary Marine 29, Emerald Coast Roofscapes 26
The first two innings were close with Legendary Marine taking a 14-10 lead.
In the third, Legendary pulled away with eight runs.
Emerald Coast Roofscapes rallied in the top of the fourth with eight runs to close the gap but still trail 22-18.
In the top of the fifth, ECR scored one run and then seven in the top of the sixth to take a 26-22 lead.
Legendary answered with seven in the bottom half for the win.
Will Binford was the big stick for Legendary with a home run and two doubles for 10 RBIs. Drew Grandganett hit two doubles and a single, and James Fraley hit three singles for an RBI.
Caige Hefner led ECR with two home runs, a double, and a single for six RBIs. Jarret Wampler connected for a triple, and a single for three RBIs; and Seth Goins, doubled and singled for two RBIs.
Round three play – May 6
6:30 p.m. – The GAB Spot vs. ECR
8 p.m. – Legendary Marine vs. winner of 6:30 p.m.
