REDKEY, IN — An Albany woman who faces charges in California stemming from a child’s death was arrested on Wednesday, April 29, in Redkey.
Redkey police said they had been asked by U.S. marshals to take 32-year-old Nichole Thorpe into custody. She had been determined to be staying at a home in Redkey.
The southwestern Jay County community is about six miles northeast of Thorpe’s hometown of Albany in Delaware County.
She was being held Thursday in the Jay County Jail in Portland pending proceedings to extradite her to California.
According to a release by the Redkey Police Department, Thorpe has been charged in California with involuntary manslaughter, child abuse, conspiracy, concealing a death and failing to report a child death.
