INDIANAPOLIS — The final member of the Indiana Fever’s training camp delegation has arrived.
Damiris Dantas, a Brazil native, arrived in Indianapolis this weekend after a delay in approval of her work visa. Those delays caused her to miss the first week of camp and the Fever’s first preseason game.
But Dantas, going into her third season with the Fever and second with coach Stephanie White, is already familiar with the game plan.
“I’m really excited,” White said. “She’s been playing great, she looks great. I heard that yesterday she shot the lights out (in a workout), so excited to get her back on the floor. I mean, she gives us a different kind of look from the post position, and I’m ready to get her integrated.”

Dantas played in Turkey during the WNBA offseason, averaging 18.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in 19 games with Botas. She shot 38.9% from the 3-point line. She also competed in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers with Brazil, playing in all five games and averaging 22 points on 33 minutes per game for her home country.
She will continue to back up center Aliyah Boston.
“We know what DD does to stretch the floor, and there’s nothing better than having a post player that shoots the ball as well as she does,” Boston said. “We’re excited she’s back.”
The Fever now have all 16 training camp players. The team will need to make two cuts ahead of the season opener on May 9, as well as name one more player to the development squad.
