LANCASTER — The high school spring sports season is well underway. It’s your chance to vote for the Eagle-Gazette High School Athlete of the Week.
Fans are encouraged to vote in the Eagle-Gazette Fan Poll to determine who they think had the most outstanding performance. Fans can vote as often as allowed.
The poll will run from 6 a.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Friday. The winner will be revealed soon after the survey concludes.
Millersport’s Kendyl Bonkowski was last week’s winner.
Here is the list of athletes:
Brody Broeckel, Lancaster: He pitched seven innings, gave up 5 hits, and at the plate, went 4-for-4 with 3 runs and 3 stolen bases in a win over Canal Winchester.
Madelyn Gates, Bloom-Carroll: She went 4-for-4, hit a home run, and had two RBIs in a win over Fairfield Union.
James Hocking, Berne Union: He went 3-for-4, with a double, three runs, and two RBIs in a win over Wellington.
Kendall Brown, Lancaster: She hit a single, double, triple, and a home run to hit for the cycle in a win over Groveport.
Izzy Shultz, Liberty Union: Only a freshman, she hit a two-run home run in a 2-1 win over Logan Elm.
Jahmeir Gordon, Lancaster: He won the long jump (20-1.50) in the Fulton Relays.
Ben Richardson, Lancaster: He picked three wins, including a pair of OCC wins, for the Gales’ tennis team.
