Eric Musselman bolsters USC guard depth with another exciting transfer

It continues to feel like Christmas at USC. First, Lincoln Riley dominated recruiting in football and had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Now, Eric Musselman has been having success in roster construction. Eric Musselman has always been known for being a great recruiter, but this offseason has driven home that narrative.

The most recent addition for the USC Trojans was guard Jalen Cox from Colgate. Last season, Jalen Cox averaged 17.9 points per game, 5.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. Cox shot 52.1% from the field, 36% from beyond the arc, all in 31 games last season. Cox has gotten better year after year, and he has been as reliable as they come, playing 30 games each season. Last season, however, was the best season of his collegiate career.

Cox now comes to the Trojans, joining a loaded backcourt, but with his consistency and skill set, Eric Musselman will find a role for him. The Trojans saw last season how important depth is and now this season they have an abundance of riches at each position.

USC is coming off a very poor season and falling short of each of its aspirations. This year, before anyone steps on the court, the excitement for the Trojans should be at an all-time high. USC will have scorers, depth, and size, everything they need to compete in the Big Ten. Just like each of their other transfers, Jalen Cox will be an impactful player and a big factor on whether or not USC will be successful next season.
