The stage is set for Duval Hall, Jacksonville’s newest music venue.
The hall, at the new Jacksonville Fairgrounds at 13601 Normandy Boulevard adjacent to the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, opens Friday night, April 24, with a concert by Jacksonville hard rock band Allele. Doors open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m., with SteVille and Noself opening. Tickets are $16.65.
Duval Hall sits in the middle of a busy construction site as crews work to ready the fairgrounds for the fair in November. It holds up to 2,900 fans and can be set up for seated or standing concerts. It’s a multi-purpose room that can also be used for car shows, garden shows, graduation ceremonies and comic conventions. It cost about $21 million.
Another, much larger venue is also under construction at the fairgrounds. Plans call for JAX Amphitheater, which will seat up to 10,000, to be ready for the fair this fall.
