After detaining and interviewing several people who were at the scene, detectives identified Justice Martinez, 28, as the offender and secured an arrest warrant for murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the police department post said.

Martinez was located and taken into custody on April 19, the post said. He was interviewed and transported to the City Detention Center.

The investigation is still ongoing. The post encourages anyone with information about the incident to call the Corpus Christi Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 361-886-2840. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS (8477) or online at 888tips.com.

As of 1 p.m. April 20, Martinez’s case was in the pre-file status, which means charges had not yet been formally filed.
